Helps confirm the reality and finality of death... Provides a climate for mourning and the expression of grief... Allows the sorrows of one to become the sorrows of many. Is one of the few times love is given and not expected in return... Is a vehicle for the community to pay its respects. Encourages the affirmation of religious faith. .. Is a declaration that a life has been lived as well as a sociological statement that a death has occurred...
These statements were true in the past and are still true today. For these reasons at Heritage Funeral Homes we offer families many options for funeral services and are committed to providing meaningful services to help memorialize your loved ones. Following is a brief description of some of the options that are available to families.
| THE VISITATION |
| | The visitation takes place before the funeral service either the night before or immediately prior to funeral services. It allows family and friends a chance to express their condolences. Many families bring photos and memorabilia to be placed around the funeral home providing a personal touch.
|
| THE FUNERAL SERVICE |
| | The funeral service is a religious or humanistic service conducted by a priest, minister or friend of the family and held either at the funeral home or in your church. |
| A GRAVESIDE SERVICE |
| | This is available for families that choose not to have a visitation or a funeral service at our funeral home or your church. It consists of family and friends meeting at the grave for a short liturgical service.
|
| FORWARDING OF REMAINS TO ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME |
| |
When a death happens in a city where the funeral is not going to take place our staff of funeral directors will assist you in making the necessary arrangements to have the deceased transported to the city where services will take place.
|
| RECEIVING REMAINS FROM ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME |
| | As in the case of Forwarding if Heritage Funeral Homes is the funeral home chosen to handle the funeral for a person who died in another city, our staff is able to handle everything that needs to be done to bring the deceased back to one of our funeral homes. |
