Being the oldest of the cousins, I can remember the simpler days when the entire extended family would gather for birthdays, holidays, first communions, and for random visits on the weekends. There weren’t as many of us back then so we all grew up together, played together, had sleepovers more often. When I went away to college and moved out of state, I lost touch with my cousins but I loved seeing them whenever I had the chance to on visits back home.

Most of my memories will be of a younger Katie, but her smile, fun spirit, and kindness were always present whenever I saw her. Katie had stopped by the Aunts’ house when I was in town (a big day for me) to say hello and chat just a few years ago. It was a wonderful surprise. I’ll always hang on to that as well as the older memories. I know your Mom, Grandma, and Grandpa will be happy to see you but it’s far too soon. Hugs and comfort to the Van Gorder family, my Aunts and Uncles, extended family, and everyone that loved Katie.
