I discovered what a truly delightful individual Nancy was after we shared the experience of a building water event that left our units in the state of cleanup and repair. When my unit 805 was completed, I noticed that 1004 was being still being painted. I knocked on her door and confessed that I was curious about details of what happened back on that early May 2020 evening. I will always cherish the next 2 hours we spent together. I learned about the history of her of selecting and purchasing in CG, stories about colorful local politics and friends she made in the building over the years. I also learned that her kitchen cabinets were designed specifically for her so that she did not have to use a step stool (like the rest of us…) to reach the high shelves and she did not care for stainless steel appliances! I did not know the penthouse units feel very different in a stormy wind. Then I asked about the image on the corridor wall leading to the bedrooms. My husband and I are native New Yorkers and Nancy’s stories of theater and cultural experiences really hit home and her stories made me smile. I invited Nancy down to my unit to share my story of coming to CG and to show her that there will be an end to walls and furniture covered in plastic and the restoration will indeed be successful.

This special and elegant lady was taken too soon. May her joyful spirit bring comfort to her family and friends.
