Alda Hope (nee Manke) Gordon of the town of Raymond was born to eternal life on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Robert. Dear mother of Bill, Sue, Steve (Shari), and the late Karen Gumieny. Grandmother of the late Jennifer, the late Ryan, Danielle, Steve, Tim, Brad (Fergie), Craig (Catherine), Amanda (Patrick), the late Robbie, Jake (Yvonne), and Caleb (Victoria) and great-grandmother of 12. Sister of Marlene Miller. Further survived by son-in-law Les Gumieny, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Alda was born in Milwaukee, WI to Henry and Esther (Pick) Manke. She shared a special bond with her sister and best friend, Marlene.  They spent many hours roller skating around the neighborhood on Muskego Ave.

She graduated from Lutheran High School then worked as a secretary. When she landed a job at Home Juice she met the love of her life, Bob. Their caring relationship was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. Once Bill was on the way, Alda quit her job and devoted her time to raising a family. They decided they wanted to get out of the city so in 1970 they moved to the town of Raymond.

Alda had an endless supply of love. While raising her children in North Cape she acted as an extra mother or grandmother to all the neighborhood kids and her children’s friends. She baked, babysat, played lifeguard, made Halloween costumes and anything else they needed. As her children grew Alda was excited to add her son-in-law, daughter-in-law and especially grandchildren, whom she was always willing to babysit and spoil. And then great grandchildren (with one more on the way). She took great pride in hosting the family for the holidays and made everyone’s birthday special.

Fall was a special time for Alda.  She loved the colorful leaves and enjoyed traveling the Midwest with her true love Bob to see nature’s beauty. She also had the gift of gab and could have an engaging conversation with anyone. Alda had a strong faith and lived a life serving others. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, ran the bake sale and coordinated treats for Vacation Bible School.

The legacy of Alda’s kind spirit, passion for family, and selfless nature will live on through the many lives she has touched.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at NORTH CAPE LUTHERAN CHURCH 2644 124th St. (Hwy 45 & W. 5 Mile Rd.) from 2PM until the time of service at 4PM. Interment in the church cemetery on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 10AM.
