Alice Katherine (Schindler) Eggebrecht, entered eternal life on September 8, 2021, at the age of 86 years.  Born August 6, 1935, in West Allis, Wisconsin, daughter of Paul and Katherine (Haag) Schindler, she received Holy Baptism and confirmed her faith in 1949 at Jordan Lutheran Church in West Allis, WI.  Alice married Roland (Rollie) Eggebrecht on October 14, 1961, at Jordan Lutheran Church.

Alice received her elementary education at Woodrow Wilson Grade School in West Allis, attended John Dewey Junior High, and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1953.  She took an IBM course that led to her first full-time job at “The Electric Company” (now known as WE Energies) where she made lifelong friendships.  She also worked at Allen-Bradley before the birth of her children, Lisa in 1964, and Kurt in 1965.  She enjoyed playing softball and volleyball in company and municipal leagues, and loved to travel, especially to Washington State to visit her oldest sister, June.  She later took evening classes at Marquette University and Milwaukee Area Technical College.  Alice worked at Allis Chalmers in the payroll office in the 1970s.  In 1975, Alice and Rollie joined Woodlawn Lutheran Church where they enjoyed weekly worship, Bible classes, and many dear friendships in Christ.. In the 1980s, Alice became administrative assistant to the Chief Dietician at Milwaukee County Behavioral Health in Food Service.  Alice retired from that position in the late 1990s and continued to travel with Rollie, including classic car shows, camping, Door County getaways, and an annual trip to Houston for Thanksgiving.  Alice loved to knit, crochet, and work counted cross-stitch needle art.  She was loving “mom” to 4 Shih-Tzu dogs during her retirement years, and she was always a big sports fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Roland, children Lisa and Kurt, and sister Nancy Schindler.  She is preceded in death by siblings Robert Schindler, June Hadland, Paul, Dorothy, James, and Donald Schindler.  She is also survived by other relatives and dear friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at WOODLAWN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2217 S. 99th St. from 10-11:30AM with a funeral service at 11:30AM. Thanks for the memories, Cindy – couldn’t have those without you, and with Jimmy as our mastermind! Mom and Dad put up with our TV shows on the patio (and watched them!) and using Mom’s wash line to hang our weather maps for TV news. Ha! Love you always and appreciate our life-long friendship 🙂
