Alma R. Capetillo

1958  –  2024

The hardest good-bye is the one you aren’t prepared to make. Saturday, November 16th, surrounded by her loving daughters Alma R. Capetillo went home to be with Jesus. Alma bravely battled cancer, diabetes, and several other ailments, and although she made it through her bypass surgery her heart wasn’t strong enough to continue the fight.

Born, December 15, 1958, the Lord graced Alma with almost 66 years. The eldest daughter of the late Jose and Mary (nee Garcia) Urrutia she spent her early years in San Antonio, TX before ultimately moving with her family to Milwaukee, WI. Alma grew up on what is now considered Marquette University campus, but she fondly remembered it in a much simpler time. A time when her and her sisters hung out with a gaggle of neighborhood kids that remained lifelong friends.

Alma was the quintessential Wisconsin sports aficionado, a diehard “this is our year” Brewer’s fan, and a Packer’s shareholder, she never missed a game. She also proudly volunteered for the Mexican Fiesta/Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation for over 25 years.  Alma was a cherished member of Remnant Church; she would exuberantly invite anyone she encountered to visit her church and proudly endorsed her Pastor.

Alma’s true passion was her faith and her family. She met her husband, the late John Capetillo, whom she married in 1979, and quickly began her family. Together they raised four daughters, Adrianna, Jessica, Angela, and Juliana. After being invited by her sister to a bible study Alma found the real love of her life, Jesus. Both Alma and John were baptized by water and spirit with their daughters following behind them. Throughout her life she’s seen many trials and many victories, loved and lost, but always found her source of comfort in Jesus.

As a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend she carved a niche in everyone’s heart that can never be replaced. Her memory will permeate those places and lives she touched forever. Alma was survived by her daughters Adrianna Mendoza (Moises), Angela Capetillo-Reyna (Henry), and Juliana Capetillo, her sisters Angela Torres (Almando “David”), Amy Urrutia-Martinez (Alexzander), and her only grandchild Joshua Mendoza. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Mary Urrutia, her beloved husband John Capetillo, her sister Anna Marie Fajardo, and her daughter Jessica Capetillo.

The Celebration of Life for Alma Capetillo will be on Friday November 22, 2024, at Remnant Church 201 N. 121st Street Wauwatosa, WI 53226. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm. We will meet at Good Hope Cemetery 4141S. 43rd Street Greenfield, WI 53220.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.

Please join us as we say, see you in eternity to Alma. In Jesus we never really have to say goodbye.

    Dear Auntie Alma,
You lived a full life of love for family, faith, and the Brewers. I recall be very little and spending the night at my auntie Alma and uncle John’s apartment. It was one of very few places that I could be without my mom. As I think back, it must have been the feeling of safety and love. When I left Milwaukee and came to visit I knew in my many family rounds a stop at your store (Marquette Laundry) is where I could visit you and have my burrito lunch. It makes me smile.
My mom and I wish we could travel to see you one last time, however, illness prevents us. Please know we have thought of you and the family all this week. It’s hard to lose people we love, we can only remember the good times and the light that you brought to our lives. We can acknowledge that all is well with your soul (like the song said). We love you and will miss you, until we see each other again in the kingdom. You will be in our hearts and memories. Love your niece, Vickie (aka Bip-bee)
