Riley, Anita S. Nee Stuart of Town of Raymond
age 84yrs passed away at Personally Yours Senior Living, with her daughter and caregiver at her side in Raymond on Sat. November 28, 2009. Anita was born in Sturtevant, WI on September 17, 1925 to George and Mildred nee Knudsen Stuart and was united in marriage to John Riley on May 6, 1944 in Sturtevant.
Anita lived life based on her Christian beliefs of an open heart and open door principal. She always had an open chair at the dinner table, willing to lend an ear or shoulder to those who needed her. She volunteered at Lincoln Lutheran Home, sang in the church choir, was a member of Cross and Crown at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Racine. Her career paths always crossed working with the public. She worked for Walgreen’s, was a telephone operator, receptionist for Doc Nimmer and Dr. Purtell in Sturtevant and a receptionist at her sister’s beauty shop; DelRoy Beauty Shop in Sturtevant. She and John enjoyed many years of traveling and spending summer’s at their Lake Arrowhead home in Rome, WI. Family meant the world to the both of them.
Anita is survived by daughter’s Judith Ann of Bethesda Lutheran Home, a home for the developmentally disabled Watertown, WI and Kathleen Paul Kaprelian of Raymond; grandchildren John fiancé Julie, Adam and Molly who were grandma’s pride and joy; brothers Roy Elaine Stuart of Racine, George Stuart of Virginia Beach, VA and sister Lorie Woiteshek of Tomahawk, WI; brother-in-law C, Randall Riley; sisters-in-law Margaret Muir and Edith Brooks all of Bardstown, KY; special nephew Norman Beverly Keene of New Salisbury, IN. Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends further survive.
She is preceded in death by husband John in 2005, son John F Skip Jr. in 1973 of Hodgkin’s disease; brother and sister-in-law John and Gladys Stuart, brother-in-law Fred Woiteshek, sister-in-law Jane Stuart; special nephew Jeffrey Stuart.
Funeral services will be held on Thur. Dec. 3, 2009, 10 am at NORTH CAPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2644 Hwy 45 Hwy 45 and W. Five Mile Rd with Pastor Brad Brown officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation for Anita at North Cape Lutheran Church on Wed. from 5 to 8 pm and at the church again on Thursday, 9am until the time of the service10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Bethesda Lutheran Home or North Cape Lutheran Church.
