Anita M. Bukowski (nee Wehner)
Anita M. Bukowski, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 8, 1939, preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ronald. Loving mother of Anne (Greg) Prince, Cathy Bukowski, Mary (Ron) Pleasant, Terri (Mike) Skeris, and Matt (Patty) Bukowski. Loving Grandma of Justin Prince, Adam (Abby) Prince, Madison Pleasant, Luke Pleasant, Hailey (Brian) Felts, Blake Bukowski, and Sydney Bukowski. Sister of Dolores (the late Mike) Brewster, and the late Joseph Wehner. Anita is further survived by a host of loving family members and friends.
Anita’s professional life was as rich and varied as her personal one. She taught sewing at St. Mary’s, sharing her love for the craft with countless students. As a home economist at Henri’s Foods, she made many lifelong friends. Her work as a recipe tester and cookie baker at Reiman Publications allowed her to share her creativity and baking skills.
Beyond her professional life, Anita was deeply involved in her community. For over 25 years, she served as a food judge at the State Fair and many County Fairs. She was also a dedicated leader of the church cleaning team. She helped with scheduling 20 volunteers, who kept the church clean and tidy.
Anita enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge and sheepshead on a regular basis. She loved her weekly bowling league as well. She took great joy in sewing, from designing and creating her daughter Anne’s wedding dress to sewing bridesmaids dresses for several weddings. Her hands were never idle, always stitching, mending, or creating something beautiful for those she loved.
Her commitment to her family and friends was matched only by her passion for volunteering. Whether leading travel groups for the bank’s Golden Security Club or chaperoning trips through the travel agency. Anita loved to help others explore the world, just as she had. She was a kind and generous spirit who always gave of herself to make life better for those around her.
The Bukowski family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hanrahan family for making our annual Christmas party a fun and memorial event for more than 20 years.
Anita’s love, laughter, and light will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be missed, but her spirit and legacy will continue to guide and inspire us all.
Visitation will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church (9520 W Forest Home Ave) on Saturday February 1st 2025 from 9am-10:45am. Memorial service will follow at 11am. Interment immediately following memorial service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Columbarium (9520 W Forest Home Ave).
