BARBARA CATHERINE KLEMM, 84 of East Troy, WI. passed away on February 11, 2002 at Kiwanis Manor after a long illness. She was born in Waukegan, Ill. on March 26, 1917 to Albert and Catherine Duffy Statz and lived in Racine and Milwaukee, graduating from Messmer High School, Milwaukee in 1935. On November 04, 1939 she was united in marriage to Earl B. Klemm at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Milwaukee. In 1955 they moved to Camp Alice Chester in East Troy. He died on Sept. 12, 1979.
Barbara was very active in Girl Scouts of Milwaukee County as well as Badger Council of Girl Scouts where she served on the Executive Board for many years. She was the first East Troy Area Adult to receive the St. Anne Award from St. Peter’s Parish. Badger Council of Girl Scouts awarded her the Thanks Badge for her many years of volunteerism. She was also very active in St. Peter’s Parish and The Society of St. Vincent de Paul as well as serving on the Senior Advisory Board of Walworth County.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeannette John A Schwartz of East Troy and Marion John Lehmann of Ft. Atkinson. Four grandchildren, Ellen Dennis Hardaker, John E. Julie Schwartz and Barbara Mueller, all of East Troy and Michele Lehmann of Ft. Atkinson. Five great-grandsons, Marc, Kevin, and Neal Hardaker, Kent Mueller and Evan Schwartz and on step great-grandson Jamie Losik all of East Troy.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday Feb. 18, 2002 at St Peter’s Catholic Church 1981 Beulah Ave. East Troy at 11 AM with a visitation from 10Am until the time of service. Fr. John E. Twomey officiating.
