Brunett, Barbara M.
(nee Hughes) Passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 age 87 years. Beloved wife and best friend of Lawrence “Bud” Brunett for 67 wonderful years. Loving mom of Lori (Scott) Johnson, Jim Brunett and David (Stacie) Brunett. Proud grandma of Michael (Nikki) Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Alison (Nick) Itsines, Eli Brunett, Zephan (Samantha) Brunett, April (James) Disch and Angela (Cameron) Scot. Great grandma of Niko, Xander, Thomas, Jace, Alyvia, Damien, Claire, Adelyn, Makayla, Easton, Bayler, Leighton, Brooks and Ember. Further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Barbara will be remembered for her love, devotion, kindness, and service to her husband of 67 years, family, friends, church and to the community.  She was kind, caring and dedicated to those she loved and passionate about helping others! She was a true believer in “We are all in this together” “Equality for all people” and belief in the inherent goodness that she believed existed in each of us. She was opposed, opinionated and outspoken to injustices and unfairness done onto others!

Barbara worked tirelessly with the Peace & Justice Committee at Greenfield Avenue Presbyterian Church (GAPC), Spinning Yarns knitting prayer shawls and other items for those in need.  Barb was active with the Greendale Women’s Club, Women’s Court & Civic, and was a member of Sweet Adeline’s Milwaukee Showcase Chorus.  She led by example and her grandchildren learned at an early age as they helped deliver meals on wheels, that giving back to the community was important.

Children with special needs and disabilities had a very special place in her heart.  She opened not only her heart but the family’s home to assist them in every way possible.  Their presence and accomplishments brought her true joy and provided the entire household some of its finest and most cherished family memories.

She downright loved music and loved to sing.  While not all are aware, being born Welsh by its inherent nature empowered one with the ability to sing.  She sang and whistled her way through each day.

She was often heard to say her life was a series of chapters all of which were wonderful, none that she would choose to change in any way. Each chapter had its purpose, and each its own lessons.  As her chapter book ended, she was embraced in the comfort of many wonderful friends and family members.  She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered and as we remember her, it should inspire each us to pay it forward.

Memorial services are scheduled for January 21, 2022 at Greenfield Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1455 South 97th Street West Allis, WI 53214 but are now going to be virtual, please use Zoom link to be included

Barb I am missing you already. We have been friends since cradle class in Sunday School and you and Bud were always there during my difficult times. I love you so much and will be meeting you in heaven when the Lord calls.

Barb was one of the most caring and warm people I’ve ever known. She was smart, clever, compassionate and always ready to engage in discussions of social issues and politics – and she was always on the right side (but actually way to the left😉). She cared about everyone and never hesitated to offer her support and love to all who needed it. She was one of my favorite people to be around because she was always engaging, upbeat, sincere, ageless and fun. My deepest condolences to wonderful Bud and her loving children and grandchildren. I know you are singing with angels dearest Barb. You will be dearly missed.
