Lampsa
Betty Jean Lampsa nee Hooper 69 of Palmyra, returned to her creator Thursday April 26 at University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison. She was born July 5, 1931 to OrmelPat Hooper and Cecil Winch Hooper. she married Edward A. Lampsa Jr. on Feb 15, 1951. she attended Zion Grade School, graduated Palmyra High School with the class of 1949 and recieved her Bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater. She and her husband owned and operated Major Transport, Inc. for many years in Palmyra, and later operated Roy’s Truck Service. Betty was a member of Palmyra United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, and sang in the choir. She was a member and former board member of the Palmyra Historical Society. She was a talented and passionate quilter, belonging to Old World Quilters and Methodist Church Quilters. She was Treasurer of the Zion Cemetery. she was a past member of the Rob Morris Chapter NO. 10 Eastern Star. She also had served on the Palmyra School Board and the Jefferson County Counseling Center Board. She loved to travel with her husband in their motor home, enjoying active membership in the Family Motor Coach Association. Other pursuits and talents included playing piano, antiques, auctions and friendship. Betty enjoyed a good laugh. She will continue to inspire her many friends and relatives with her creativity, intelligence, sense of humor and good taste.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Ed. her three children, Dr. Diana Steve Comeaux Lampsa of Two Rivers, WI., Roy Tamara Lampsa of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and John Ursula Lampsa of Waukesha, WI. Grandchildren Nicole and Shannon Lampsa, Her sister Mary Pat Kennedy of Delavan, WI. Mother-in-law Viola Lampsa of Wauwatosa, WI, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. she is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Monday April 30, from 4-8 PM at the PALMYRA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 122 N. 5th st. Palmyrathe Funeral Celebration will be Tuesday May 1 at 10AM, at Church, with visitation from 9AM until the time of service, conducted by Pastor Jerry Lipka.
In lieu of Flowers, a memorial fund to benefit various organizations close to Betty’s heart has been established at Palmyra State Bank, 225 w. Main St. Palmyra, WI. 53156.
