Entered eternal life on Thursday November 21st, 2013. Beverly Roberta Woelfle (nee Cleer) was born to Hilda Mae Moller Cleer and Herbert John Cleer in Mendota, Illinois, on April 19, 1916. She attended grade school and a year of high school in Mendota, then moved to Pekin, Illinois, where she graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1934.
Always regular in church attendance, she met her future husband, Clarence Woelfle, in the youth group of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pekin. They were married on September 2nd, 1939. She and Clarence were in choir for over 40 years and both held offices in various church societies. A love of music has been handed down throughout the generations as both her daughters and their families enjoy making music, both instrumental and vocal. Beverly moved to Elkhorn, Wisconsin, in 2003 to live with her younger daughter, Sara and her husband, Pastor Kurt Grunewald. She became a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies’ Aid Society until the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2009. She then became a member at St. Marcus Evangelical Lutheran Church, across the street from her home where she lived with Kurt and Sara, their daughter Rebecca and her husband Pastor Paul Steinberg, and their six children. Beverly’s older daughter, Ann, married to Dr. Michael Anastasio, lives in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
Beverly is survived by her daughters Ann (Dr. Michael) Anastasio and Sara (Pastor Kurt) Grunewald, seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Pastor Paul) Steinberg, Milwaukee, WI, Stephen Grunewald, Germantown, WI, Pastor Matthew (Rebecca) Grunewald, St. Clair, MN, Daniel Grunewald, Germantown,WI, Benjamin (Kristine) Grunewald, Fond du Lac, WI, Dr. Alison Anastasio, Chicago, IL, and Alexandra Anastasio, Livermore, CA, and by twelve great-grandchildren – Jacob Grunewald, Luke Steinberg, Jonathan Steinberg, Mackenson Steinberg, Mackencia Steinberg, Joshua Steinberg, Chloe Grunewald, Andrew Steinberg, Jagger Grunewald, Aaron Grunewald, David Grunewald and Isaac Grunewald. Beverly is further survived by her nephew, Dean (Martha) Woelfle, and niece, Eunice Woelfle.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and her parents, Hilda and Herbert.
Visitation Friday November 29th from 10-11AM at ST. MARCUS EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2215 N. Palmer St, Milwaukee, followed by the funeral service at 11AM. Interment Saturday at 12PM at Lakeside Cemetery, Pekin, IL.
