Carol Jean Craig, (nee Erler) was born to Clarence and Esther Erler on January 4, 1947 in Milwaukee. On February 23, 1947, Carol was made a child of Christ in baptism at Atonement Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She was later confirmed at Atonement on April 30, 1961. Carol attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School where she met William Craig, her high school sweetheart and future husband, while playing in the band. Upon graduating high school, Carol attended beauty school and worked as a beautician. In 1969, William and Carol were married at Atonement. The fruit of their marriage was three children, Mary, Paul, and David. While she was a full-time homemaker, Carol also held a wide array of part-time jobs to ensure her children were able to receive Lutheran education, including cake-making, retail sales, restaurant staff, farm egg manufacturing line worker, and finally as a floral arranger, a job and art that she loved and excelled at. Carol’s most important passion in life was her faith in Christ, which she and William faithfully made the center-piece of the Craig household.

Carol was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, William, her parents, and her brother, Donald Erler and sister-in-law, Lois Erler. Carol is survived by her children; Mary (Gary), Paul, and David (Amy), her grand-children; Hannah (Carl), David (Samantha), Benjamin, Elise (Gideon), Alicia, Elizabeth, William, James, Henry, Greta, Paul, and Ruth, as well as three great-grandchildren; Nara, Saige, and Cayden. Carol is also survived by her sister, Dianne (Ronald) Affeldt , brother-in-law James (Marilyn) Craig  and sister-in-law Sharon (Keith) Roder , as well as by many loving nieces and nephews. By Christ’s grace alone, Carol’s family anxiously awaits their re-unification with her and William in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be provided to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waukesha or to WELS Lutherans for Life.

We know the Craig family and know that all the children were brought up in a loving home. To know the Craig’s was to love the Craig’s. We are very sorry for the loss of your mother, so close to the loss of your father. They are together now, so this should give you some comfort. You have many happy memories of both your parents that will live on for. a lifetime. If you need anything we are here for you!
