Bangert, Carol M.
Nee Grohskopf was born February 3, 1930 in Sheboygan, WI. Carol died peacefully at home on Sunday Aug. 28, 2011 with loving care from her family. She succumbed after a rather long battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Rev. Martin . Carol and Martin were blessed with two children, David Jean and Sarah Michael Nowicki. She is further survived by four grandsons, AndrewMelissa, JasonJessica, TimKim, and JonErin and one great-granddaughter Brooke.
Carol was baptized on March 9, 1930, and confirmed on April 18, 1943, both taking place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, she graduated from North High School in 1947 and worked at the Sheboygan Clinic as a secretary until 1954. Carol and Martin married on June 6, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. While Martin was a student at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Carol was employed at Deaconess Hospital. After Martin’s graduation in 1957 they began their life-long ministry at St. Matthew Lutheran in Deerbrook, WI and St. Luke Lutheran in Elcho, WI. From there they worked for the Lord at St. Stephen Lutheran in Milwaukee, WI and at Peace Lutheran in New Berlin, WI where they retired. Carol was employed at Martin Luther High School as secretary for Student Services from 1968-1988.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday Sept. 4, 2011, 4pm at PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH 17651 W. Small Rd “College Ave” in New Berlin. Interment Good Hope Cemetery on Tuesday Sept. 6, 2011 at 9am. Visitation will be held Sunday at the church from 2 to 3:45 pm.
Carol had a true servant heart that was a blessing and source of joy to many in the varied settings in life. Our great thanks to Dr. Thomas of Froedtert Hospital Cancer Center, and Dr. Frick of St. Luke’s Hospital as well as their respective supporting nurses and staff. Memorials can be given to Lutheran Summer Music, particularly the Concert and the Scholarship Funds and Organ Music Fund of Peace Lutheran of New Berlin or to the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee.
