Cheryl Marie Woychik, age 69, walked on peacefully at her longtime home in South Milwaukee Wisconsin, Friday, July 5th 2024 after a brave 5 year battle with breast cancer.
She was born on Milwaukee Ave. in South Milwaukee on March 23, 1955, daughter of the late Joycel and Celestine (Nee: White) Woychik.
Cheryl is survived and terribly missed by her two sons Nathan and Adam, favorite daughter in law Angel, the love and light of her final years her Grandchildren Mission and Mercy, 5 siblings Mark (Paula), Joy (Lester), Theresa (Steve), Timothy, and Rachel (Pat), many nieces and nephews who lovingly knew her as “Auntie Lullies”, her most dear cousin Deb, many other aunts and uncles and cousins, and countless friends she made on her journey.
In listing those who are devastated by her passing, light should be shone on a very unique and special 57 year friendship that began in the 7th grade with Cheryl Borchardt (Dinauer) and Robin Orlando (Moga), the “3 musketeers” shared many good times and adventures and all the ups and downs of life. It wouldn’t be right to leave out her very long and special friendship with Judy Cooper also.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her Father Joycel, Mother, Celestine and dear godson and nephew Walter Woychik.
Cheryl worked hard her entire life and it would be hard to find someone with a greater work ethic. Having had many different jobs she would always stay busy and make friends, from waiting tables to driving bus, to blueprint room manager and more. Her very good friend Cathy Ziegelbauer helped her learn how to read blueprints and she was able to start her career in the construction industry. She eventually became the office manager and spent some time as a safety inspector at AGC of Greater Milwaukee. It was at AGC, she found her “adopted” middle son Brian Eigenfeld.
She loved nature and living by a Great Lake, she was a proud Anishinaabe and enrolled in the Bad River Band of Lake Superior, in the summer you could find her picking rocks and beach glass, hatching monarch butterflies from her milk weed in front of her house and out exploring. Cheryl also has a very special talent for writing and recording stories, if she wanted undoubtedly she could have written a best-selling novel of her life and adventures.
Cheryl loved fiercely and in her final years spent as much time as she was able with her grandchildren making sure to make as many memories as possible.
She was a caring and lovable person, who made friends everywhere she went. Her irreverent and joyful nature never failed to draw strangers in.
She was truly a unique and special human who countless many considered a confidante and friend.
The family would like to make an extra special thank you to our cousin Debbie Daymond, a retired nurse who was our angel of mercy during mom’s final days. Debbie came and stayed with her cousin and friend for 10 straight days, providing expert care, combined with the love of family. Deb refused to take a break the entire time, staying at mom’s side to keep her comfortable and cared for as she transitioned to the next world. The care she provided was superhuman, and she has our eternal gratitude. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center for providing compassionate care, emotional support, and friendship throughout mom’s illness.
In lieu of flowers the family is working on putting together a memorial tree, bench and plaque for Cheryl in the City Of South Milwaukee. The family is accepting donations via Venmo @AngelLogic, Paypal @angelicalogic or personal check drop off at Heritage Funeral Home.
such a beautiful commentary on Chery’s life. I sure will miss you dear friend. I am so grateful to know you are at the banquet. See you on the other side
Hugs Aunt Judy. She was a wonderful person to meet. Hugs and prayers to all her friends and family.
My beautiful, fun and caring Godmother. I will miss you always. Grateful for the time we have spent together. 🕊️
You were such a beautiful and amazing woman with a heart of gold. I love you and I will miss you but I will never forget you. Until we meet again…❤️🙏❤️
There are only a few special people in one’s life that are true “difference makers” My aunt Cheryl was exactly that for me. I will never forget her infectious joy nor the countless ways in which her presence made my life better. I will try my best to reflect the light she shone to others so that her memory may live on forever.
Beautifully written and maybe still doesn’t even do her justice!
Im so grateful for your mom- she always took time to write or call and support me.
Once she found a book she thought I might like, and another time sent a necklace she knew I would find beautiful- all out of the blue.
She was always so kind to compliment my kids, but I loved listening to her infinitely praising her own (you guys!). And her stories about Mission were always fun to hear- the love in her voice permeated the airwaves!!!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve felt this pain myself, and I know it can be unbearable. Please know I’m thinking of you all, and that your mom will always be someone special to me.
Cheryl will forever live in my heart, she is a wonderful friend.
I am so blessed to have Cheryl and the entire Woychik family in my life.
I have not had much contact with Cheryl in recent years but I still remember the kindness she showed me many years ago. She was someone that left a lasting impression. My condolences to her family. I know she will be missed.
