Clare Martha Wanek

Wanek, Clare Martha (nee Vuksich) of Greenfield.

Passed away peacefully on August 20, 2017 at age 99. Born in St. Francis on May 16, 1918. Preceded in death by her husband Arthur, parents Mathew and Mathilda (nee Lakosh) Vuksich, who met and married after emigrating from Croatia before World War I, by her sister Valerie (William) Mehl, and by her longtime friend Robert Weber. Survived by her children Glenn, of Greenfield, and Nancy (Russ Baron) of Mesa, Arizona, and many relatives and friends.

Clare enjoyed travelling, camping, gardening and especially playing cards. She was a member of three card clubs with family, friends and co-workers. Each club met monthly for more than sixty years. Clare worked as a clerk-typist for several Milwaukee firms, retiring from Murphy Diesel Company.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Adult Day Center at Clement Manor, and of the residences at St. Clare Terrace and Clement Manor for their kind and loving care of our Mom in her final years.

Private family services were held with burial at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
