David Jay
Blank
Dave Blank was a family man through and through. He loved to devote his time and resources to those he loved as well as help anyone in need. Dave had a special knack for treating all people with kindness and was accepting of people from all walks of life. Nothing made him happier than to share in the success of others and surround himself with friends and family. Gone too soon, he leaves a rich collection of many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Dave’s story begins in the year 1979. The quiz game, Trivial Pursuit, was gaining in popularity. Michael Jackson had just released his album, Off the Wall, and the Sony Walkman was a worldwide success! During a promising time in our nation’s history, Ronald and Elaine (nee Puchalski) Blank welcomed home their newborn baby boy, David Jay, on March 29th in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. His birth brought them great joy.
Dave grew up in the town on Oconomowoc until he was four years old before the family relocated to South Milwaukee for a couple of years. Always on the go, the family was accustomed to locking the doors of their home from the top so that he wouldn’t escape in the night and run around the neighborhood naked! They later landed in Racine where Dave experienced a typical amount of boyhood wonder and his fair share of mischief. His younger sister, Tracy endured many of his antics during his developing years. Dave’s parents instilled in him the importance of a strong foundation of faith and he was baptized in Jesus Name and received the infilling of the the Holy Ghost at the age of seven years old. Dave was thrilled when he was able to play the role of an angel in his Sunday School program. During this time he grew fond of the family pets, especially his dog, Raider.
When he was a teenager Dave was very involved with soccer and basketball as well as (MMA) mixed martial arts. He spent a lot of time hanging out with his friends as well as practicing his MMA moves at the local studio, Neutral Ground. As a family, they enjoyed many trips to the Wisconsin Dells and as well as trips to Florida. Following in his father’s footsteps Dave had a strong interest in electrical work and after graduating with the Class of 1997 from Parkway Christian Academy, he received training as an apprentice with the electrical union. He seemed as though he was born for this line of work.
Dave was a man of many special interests. As hard as he worked as a journeyman electrician for many area contractors over the years, he played equally as hard. He never passed up an opportunity to shoot firearms with his dad, Ron, and enjoyed working out at the Princeton Club. Dave enjoyed hosting countless bonfires and listening to his favorite music which was anything from country to techno music. His expertise and knowledge in the field made him the area electrician where he was known to always be fixing an outlet or upgrading the electrical in his own home as well as helping friends or family members from time to time. Dave’s wonderful skills as an electrician as well as his overall kind demeanor landed him a position with Brinks Electric where he was well-liked by his coworkers. He was also the pool caretaker and enjoyed tending to the yard as well as the garden he had planted for Jenny, the love of his life.
Despite his love of his work, as well as his many hobbies, nothing brought him greater joy than being the soulmate to his best friend Jenny, the father to his daughter, Ava, and the stepdad to Jenny’s children; Alyssa and Addison. There simply wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for each and every one of them. His only regret was that he and Jenny hadn’t met one another sooner so that he could have loved her longer! The two of them shared many happy memories spent with their growing family and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Each of the children has their own special memories of Dave singing to them, teaching them how to ride a bike, and special trips to the local grocery store for errands. Whenever he was around there was sure to be laughter! There is no doubt the love he had in his heart for his family. Reliable, dependent, and a strong provider, Dave will surely be missed by his many special friends and loved ones.
