Peacefully passed away on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at the age of 76 years. Dennis was born on July 9, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI to Alois and Irene Hanel. He resided the majority of his life in Greendale, WI. Survived by his wife of 51 years Betty (nee Morawski). He is also survived by his loving children, Jodi A. (Luis) Hanel-Fernandez and Robert J. (Beth) Hanel; his cherished grandchildren Ace and Asher Fernandez and Lucas, Eli and Carly Hanel. Preceded in death by his siblings A. Thomas (Joanne) Hanel, Nancy (John) LaBarbera and Marilyn Hanel. He was also loved by sisters-in-law, brothers- in-law, nieces, nephews and many caring friends. Dennis spent 4 years in the United States Air Force, and then started Hanel and Son manufacturing business with his father Alois in 1963; now Hanel Corporation in New Berlin, WI which has been in business for 54 years and is currently operated by Robert Hanel and Mark Strehlow. A special and heartfelt thank you to Dana and Lisa of Aurora at Home and Vitas Hospice Ruth House.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday March 6th from 3-4PM at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CHURCH, 8500 W. Cold Spring Rd., Greenfield, with A Mass of Christian Burial at 4PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Angel Fund of St. John the Evangelist Grade School, to provide financial assistance to students appreciated.
