Diana J. Hashek

Having lived a long and wonderful life, Diana J Hashek entered Gods loving arms on July 12, 2024.  Diana passed away at the age of 85 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Diana was born on 5/7/1939 in Chicago, IL and adopted by the late John and Lottie Swiatlowski. In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her love, James Hashek Jr.  She is survived by her children Lynn Schmitz (Bill), Greg Hashek and Denise Hashek; grandchildren Shane Schmitz (Kayla) and Danielle Schmitz; great grandchildren Naomi and Tessa Schmitz who called her Grandma GG.

Diana is also survived by many family and friends who were near and dear to her heart.  Diana graduated from Pulaski High School and was well loved by her co-workers/friends from Gimbels/Boston Store.  Her and Jim loved spending time with family and friends and hosted many events at their house. So many wonderful memories.  She enjoyed everything with Jim and family, from camping, spending time up north at the cabin, playing cards. bowling, bunco, tending to her flowers and yes, the casino. Diana was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes for many years and formed lasting friendships with many.  She was involved with Christian Women and helped every year with the annual festival in the money room.  At the age of 65 she became co-owner of Indigo with her son for 3 years and loved being the hostess greeting people when they entered the restaurant. It kept her busy and allowed her to meet many new friends and had great customers.  Her words to her children were that family & friends fill your life with joy, your soul with sunshine and your heart with love.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 9 AM – 10:45 AM, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (3722 S. 58th St.).  Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM.  Private Inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society on her behalf.

Message from Diana – Goodbyes are not forever and are not the end. It simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.
