Dominic, always put others first. His organizational skills helped mold the life of his children. People speak of Dom as, “ a kind, kind man”, always soft spoken, he was never one to raise his voice. Even when it came to disciplining his children, he had a way with words that was more torturing than if he acted like a normal parent and would scream and yell.
His military life was his lifeline. Every Sunday was family day. No playing with friends. After church and brunch at the officers club he always took the children on an adventure. He would never disclose the adventure. Often it was an educational experience depending on where the family was stationed. Dom instilled in his children, that their surroundings and culture of where they lived helped them grasp a better understanding of the human being. Never racist and all were equal.
Dom’s true colors blossomed while stationed in Duluth, Minnesota. Dom became an outdoorsman. His love for fishing carried him through life until he out lived all his fishing buddies. His trips to Alaska for salmon and down to San Diego for deep sea fishing were some of his highlights. Yes, he did manage to catch a “big one” Lots of Charlie Tuna came every ones way. He loved his nuts and orange sticks. His cuss word was Holy Mackerel.
If Dom had a second life he would come back as John Wayne… his love for western movies and old tv series carried him through his last days.
