Found peace at the age of 84 on July 17, 2019.  A celebration of Don’s life will be held Wednesday, July 31, at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (6615 W. Oklahoma Ave) from 4-6pm with a service to follow. Donations in Don’s honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (https://www.michaeljfox.org/donate) appreciated.

He loved playing the accordion and the organ and teaching Kim and Kathy how to play them as well.

Basement jam sessions with Don playing the accordion, Keith on drums and Kim, Kathy and Darlene singing were a regular occurrence.  We have the reel-to-reel recording tapes to prove it!

Don was a bowling pin setter when he was young, so he became a pretty good bowler.  He and Darlene bowled in leagues for many years…

He enjoyed watching sports on TV:  Brewers, Packers and any golf tournament.

Later in life he learned computer languages and inspired Kim to learn them as well, because computers were becoming big.

He was shy, but once you got to know him, you couldn’t help but love him.

“Special thanks to the staff at Ramsey Woods Residence and Aseracare Hospice”.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,

In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

We are so thankful to have known both Don and Darlene through great friends. Their love and commitment are so present in our memories of moments spent with them. We both had the opportunity to spend quality time with Don…that won’t be forgotten. May peace be with our friends, Don’s family!

My deep condolences to the entire family in their great loss. Although I did not know Don and Darlene, I know their daughter Kathy. Don taught her well as she is an excellent golfer and loves the game. Kathy often talks about her Dad and the many things he taught her. She loved him deeply. He is partying in heaven now.
