Gabrus, Donald J.
Passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 age 79 years. Preceded in death by his first wife Virginia (nee Bandt). Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 47 years Joan (nee Teg). Son Gary (Shirley), son Greg (Vicky), step-daughter Joann (Andrew B.) Bauer, step-son Curtis Gilg. Seven grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters, brother Kenneth (Audrey), nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don loved hunting with his sons and grandsons. Proudly served in the U.S. Army Military Police Special Forces overseas. Made his career as a “Ground Hog” working underground installing storm tunnels and sewer pipes for Grange Construction Company. His happiest time was driving his 33 ft. Winnebago to Alaska in 2000 where he spent time on Kodiak Island. He lived there as a young boy while his father worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. He had a paper route on the island delivering 200 newspapers with his “little red wagon”. His second passion was vacationing in Acapulco 34 years in a row. An avid Packer fan – favorite players being Bart Starr and Brett Favre.
Visitation Friday, June 7, 2013 at the funeral home from 4-7pm with funeral service at 7:00 pm. Entombment and Military Honors Saturday 11:00 am at St. Adalbert Cemetery. Special Thanks to the staff of Ruth Hospice for their loving care, and if so desired Memorials to Ruth Hospice would be appreciated.
