NEWELL, Donald W., Jr. ”Onikwit”
Wed. Jan. 30, 2002 at age 50. Son of a Chippewa Indian of Walpole Island in Ontario, Canada and was a Tribal Member of Walpole Island First Nation. Adopted son of Donald and Virginia Newell, Sr. of Ann Arbor, MI. Survived by his loving companion and caregiver Clare Scheuerell, daughters Donna Chambers and Wanda Hook, sisters Cynthia Livermore and Barbara Newell, brother Eric Patty Isaacs, 7 grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Wed Feb. 6th at 12 Noon at CLEMENT ZABLOCKI V.A. MEDICAL CENTER CHAPEL, 5000 W. National Ave. Rev. Raymond Korry officiating. Don served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. A Special Thank You to the staff at the Spinal Cord Injury Unit for their loving care and concern.
