Dorothy L. Johnson, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2009.
Dorothy was born March 23, 1922 in Geneva, Illinois. In 1925 her family moved to Waukegan. Dorothy was a 1939 graduate of Waukegan Township High School and started work that same year at Abbott Laboratories. She married Charles W. Johnson on November 15, 1947. Dorothy retired from Abbott in 1982 and the following year she and Chuck moved to Wisconsin Rapids. They enjoyed an active retirement camping with local and state Winnebago Travelers and volunteer service at Riverview Hospital and Sons of Norway. Dorothy lived for 8 years in Sheboygan Wisconsin and was a member of First Congregational Church, UCC and enjoyed Book Circle and Crafter’s. In 2005 she moved near Doug and Sue in Franklin, Wisconsin and was a member of Faith Community Church.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Larry Cathy of San Antonio and Doug Sue of Franklin; four grandchildren, Kevin Tricia, Kimberly Ian, Grant and Glenn; and 1 great granddaughter, Cara Grace; several beloved brother and sister-in-laws; numerous caring nephews, nieces, special friends and good neighbors.
Dorothy was preceded in death by Chuck, her devoted husband of 48 years; her parents, John S. and Ingeborg nee Carlson Lindquist; her sister, Ruth G. Lindquist; and brother “Link” S. Lindquist.
Friends may visit Saturday from 10 AM to noon at Heritage Funeral Home, 16880 W. National Avenue, New Berlin, WI 53151. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Dr. Stu Merkle officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Faith Community Church, 7700 W. Faith Dr., Franklin, WI 53132 or Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, 9688 W. Appleton Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53225
