Kastelic, Dr. Robert,
Age 84 years, of Elm Grove, WI, was born to Eternal Life on January 8, 2017. Robert was born in Milwaukee on March 1, 1932. While a student at South Division High School, he played football, basketball, and baseball. After graduation, he continued on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his Bachelors of Science and Marquette University Medical School for his Doctor of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Milwaukee VA hospital, with further post-graduate training at Baylor University and Harvard Medical School. He loved being an ophthalmologist and surgeon. He maintained a private practice on Milwaukee’s South Side for 28 years and was on staff at St. Luke’s and St. Francis hospitals. He was a member of the Medical Society of Wisconsin. He enjoyed musicals and opera. Robert was married to Mary Elizabeth Konz on August 21, 1965. He was tremendously proud of his children and grandchildren. He supported his children’s academic goals wholeheartedly as he was a big believer in education. At the end of his life, Robert was lovingly cared for in his home by his family and Vlad, with additional support from Rose Marie, Dan, and Sarah. Robert is survived by: his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Elizabeth Kastelic (nee Konz), his three daughters Dr. Elizabeth, Roberta (Brett), and Therese (Dr. Chris), his son Frank, and his dearest grandchildren Melanie, Henry, Charlotte, Graham, and Claire. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia and Frank Kastelic, and his brother, Dr. Edward Kastelic. Special gratitude to all family, caregivers, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13th, 2017, at 9:30 am, until the Mass of Christian Burial, which will begin at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Parish, 1260 Church Street, Elm Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
