Of Muskego. Died Sunday December 2, 2012 at Wauskesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. John was born on November 4, 1937, son of the late Edwin and Agnes (Egan) Seybold of Forest Junction. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1955. John was a prominent football player in high school and with the United States Marine Corps, which led to a professional football tryout with the Chicago Cardinals. He attended Compton College in California, class of 1958. John played semi-pro football for the Sheboygan Redwings (1959-1960), Manitowoc Chiefs (1961-1966 & 1968-1969), Racine Raiders and the West Allis Spartans (1970-1974). John received a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Wisconsin State University in 1966. He taught (biology) for over 30 years and coached track and field at Whitnall High School in Greenfield. In the summers, John worked for Cape Construction and later had his own concrete formwork business. In 1985, John went on to get a Master’s degree in sports medicine from the United States Sports Academy. He was a certified athletic trainer and in his spare time was a part time athletic trainer for Carroll College football and Whitnall High School. He also was certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT). John was an avid ice fisherman for walleyes, pike, panfish, and sturgeon. He enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques. John was a horseman and belonged to several horse clubs, often riding and driving (horse and buggy) in parades and horse shows. His last horse was a Morgan.
John is survived by his children Dr. Cathy Seybold of Lincoln, Nebraska and John Paul Seybold of Green Bay. He is further survived by his sisters Dorothy (Harold) Wenzel of Brillion, Peggy (Gerry) Hensler of Menasha, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; nephews Mike Wenzel and Jay Hensler.
