Elaine Catherine Raschka (nee Reed) was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior on January 30, 2024, after a long battle with illnesses and dementia. She was born May 21, 1928, to Dale Charles, and Estell M Reed in Chicago, IL. After graduating from teacher’s college, she taught first and second grade in the Greenfield, WI School District. She retired in 1988 after 28 years. She then met her husband, Charles J Raschka, and the two were married in 1994. Elaine and Charlie traveled the world together and had a very happy, though short, marriage. Charlie passed away in 2004. Elaine was a very strong Christian. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and was a lifelong supporter of the Salvation Army.
Elaine is survived by nephews Robert (Mary) Swindal, of Forest Park IL, children Natalie Swindal, Nicole (Scott) Elza, of River Forest, IL; and Thomas (Janet) Reed, children Nicholas, (fiancé Victoria Kellum), Nathan, Jessica (Scott) Blanke, Sarah Radford, and Kayla (Alex) Seay, of St. Charles, Missouri. She is further survived by stepchildren Pamela (David) Brazee, Lomira, WI, children Dani (special friend James Prewitt), Lockport, IL, Nicole (Peter) Harju, Cedarburg, WI, David Jr. (Jessica) Brazee, Lomira, WI, and Andrea (James) Feucht, Wayne, WI; and Mark (Susan) Raschka, Wrightstown, WI, children Adam (Cristiane) Raschka, Oregon, WI, Aaron (Jenel) Raschka, Buchanan, WI, Andrew (Wendy) Raschka, Freedom, WI, and Amber (Joseph) Kirk, Harrison, WI. She is also survived by many great nieces, great nephews and great step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, a stepson Lance Raschka, her brother and sister-in-law Charles (Irene Hand) Reed, her sister and brother-in-law Helen (William) Swindal, and a nephew William Swindal Jr.
The funeral will be on March 8, 2024, at 11:00am, with visitation from 10:00 until the time of the service, at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 South 84th Street, Greenfield, WI. A private Interment will be held at Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Salvation Army of Milwaukee County.
Elaine was a good friend. We taught together for many years….I am sorry to hear of her passing. Sending sympathy and love to her family…
