Eric James Kott

Eric James Kott, 75, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin passed away on December 13, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elsie Kott, and father and mother in-law, Bradley and Margaret Coleman. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Colleen A. Kott, sons Cory Kott, James Sommerville, Bradley Sommerville, Matthew (Valerie) Sommerville, and Nicholas Sommerville (Stacy). He was the adored Papa to Alyssa Kott, Brody Sommerville, William Sommerville, Cole Sommerville, Charley Sommerville, Piper Sommerville, and Jade Kott. Cherished great-grand Papa to Braydon and Bryson Kott. Further survived by his brother, Lance (Cynthia) Kott, cousins, brother and sister in-laws, and life-long friends.

Eric was born in Manistee, Michigan. After high school graduation, he began working at Manistee Drop Forge. He moved to Milwaukee and began working at Milwaukee Forge. Eric retired in 2012 after 42-years of service at Ladish Company. His career as a skilled Blacksmith encompassed nearly five decades. Eric treasured outdoor activities and was coveted for his perpetually tanned skin tone. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking and pranking his grandkids. He introduced all of them to his love of Svengooglie and other science fiction spooky movies.

He and Colleen married in 1986. They experienced many adventures and thrills with the five boys. Their household was always buzzing with excitement. Throughout his lifetime, Eric remained an earnest collector and avid Sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. Doing any of these activities with his family and friends were beloved pastimes. He was a true animal lover and deeply cared for his English Springer Spaniel dogs. Eric also enjoyed motorcycles; he had a variety to choose from when he wanted to ride. Same with the boat ride options; he collected a few different sizes. He would say each option served a different purpose. Eric lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association are appreciated. Private family service followed by a Celebration of Life. Details forthcoming.
