Evan was born in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and shortly thereafter the family moved to Madison, Wisconsin. He attended Madison East High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Pat. They were married in 1958. He served in the Air National Guard of Wisconsin from 1956-1962. Evan’s work brought the family to Milwaukee in 1961. He worked for C & J Transport (which became E & L Transport) for 33 years hauling new Ford and GM vehicles to dealerships throughout Wisconsin. Ev loved being a truck driver! His CB handle was “Uncle Dudley” and in CB lingo, he drove a “portable parking lot.” He had good friendships with his coworkers and sales staff at the dealerships. He took his profession seriously and earned many awards for safe driving and in the Wisconsin State Truck Driving competitions.

Evan loved God, family, his country and the Green Bay Packers. He was a proud Packers shareholder and enjoyed watching and rooting for the green and gold.  Ev enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked working on his cars, fixing things around the house, fishing, bowling, cards, cribbage, helping others and in retirement took up golf because Pat enjoyed it. They always looked forward to their annual get-away to Fox Hills.

For 60 years Evan was a member of Oklahoma Avenue Lutheran Church. He served as an usher, financial secretary and van driver for many years. Ev enjoyed driving shut-ins to worship on Sundays. For the past 15 years he battled COPD and had a heart condition which limited him. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and squirrels and tending his cannas and dahlias in his backyard. After a brief stay at West Allis Medical Center he was transferred to Aurora Zilber Family Hospice. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff for the excellent and compassionate care he received. Evan is loved deeply and we know now, he is with his beloved Pat in heaven.

Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at OKLAHOMA AVENUE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5335 W Oklahoma Ave from 10:30 am to time of service at Noon. Interment to follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Evan’s memory to Oklahoma Avenue Lutheran Church or to Aurora Zilber Family Hospice.
