Florence Caroline Zarek

Zarek, Florence C. “Flo”

Age 94, passed away February 13, 2012 in Mesa, AZ. She was born on September 19, 1917 to the late Phillip and Florence A.Nee Mages Schulte, in Milwaukee, WI. She was a devout Roman Catholic and a graduate of Mercy High. Florence married George Zarek on July 3, 1943, in Saint Lawrence Church, while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. George passed away in August 1974.

Florence loved to sing, square dance, bowl, do crossword puzzles, play cards, and travel. She lived for her family and supported them in all of their pursuits. She loved life, family and chocolate.

Florence moved from Milwaukee to Mesa, AZ, in 1998. She brought a home in Leisure World and while there, joined The Barbershop Belles. Florence had three brothers, Robert, Harold and James Schulte, all of whom preceded her in death. She was very close to her sister-in-law, Mary Schulte and her children who affectionately called her Aunt Sis.

Florence is survived by her three children, Ruth AnnLindol Amey of Beulah, CO, William George Zarek of Mesa, AZ and Edward JamesMaurine Zarek of Bear, DE; her grandchildren, Michael and Emily Zarek, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Florence had a very long and productive life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a great friend to all of those she met. visitation will be held in her honor Tuesday at St. Matthias Church, 9306 W. Beloit Rd., from 9-9:45. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10AM. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
