Dec. 16, 2013, age 98 years. Wife of the late Edward. Mother of Jane (Ira) Carlin of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; James S. (Barbara) Grodin of Longwood, FL; and Thomas E. (Valerie) Grodin of Encino, CA. Grandmother of Betsy (Carlos Fernandes) Carlin, David Carlin, Benjamin (Elana) Grodin, Anne (Josh) D’Agostino, Michael (KaraAnne) Grodin, and Emily Faith Grodin. Great-grandmother of Elena, Sari, and Mira D’Agostino; Mischa and Dinah Grodin, and Christopher Fernandes. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Florence was the granddaughter of Milwaukee businessman and silversmith Adolph Werner, and she was proud of her Milwaukee roots. She was an active participant in civic organizations, Water Tower Trust, Saturday Arts Club, and Brynwood Country Club as well as being involved in Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Congregation Sinai. She loved Milwaukee, music, art, and antiques. Florence was known throughout Milwaukee as a gourmet cook, as a lover and wearer of designer clothes, and as a person who delighted in having the best of everything for herself and her family.
Funeral Services 2:00 PM Thurs., Dec. 19, 2013 at the Funeral Home, 1901 N. Farwell Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53202. Entombment Spring Hill Cemetery.
