Gary J Strelow, of Muskego, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the age of 68.  Beloved husband of Kimberly Strelow for 30 years. Loving father of Jennifer (Eric) Schuster and proud grandfather of Brielle, Lucas and Coby Schuster.  Dear stepfather of the late Shannon Heath, Eric Bowman, David Heath, Adam Heath. Loving step grandfather of Casey Parker, Kendalyn Brown, the late Colton Heath, Corell Heath, Carighan Heath, Storm Heath, Kimberly Heath, and Emily Heath. and Great Grandfather of Charleigh Heath. Brother of Orris (Betty) Strelow and sister of Sharon Andersen. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, George August Strelow and Hazel “Sally” Mildred (Williams) Strelow.

Gary was born on May 10th, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from Custer High School in 1973, he began his apprenticeship as an Industrial Pipefitter. He worked diligently at Delco Electronics/Delphi for 28 years, retiring at the age of 58. He then pursued continued education in MATC’s HVAC Technician program, allowing him to serve the City of Milwaukee for five years as a Pipefitter.

Gary was a man of many passions. He had a love for not only music but also the technology of the music. He listened intently to the details of the recordings and all the aspects of the music. His stereo room was second to none. He looked forward to showing people his equipment and encouraged others to sit in what he referred to as the “sweet spot” of the room. He was intrigued with the engineering of how things worked. He had a high mechanical aptitude and would explore the mechanics of anything that broke by taking it apart and fixing it. Gary shared the thrill of races at Slinger Speedway throughout his years with family members and friends. Throughout his life living in Wisconsin, Gary embraced a variety of winter sports, including ice skating, skiing, snowmobiling. In addition, he enjoyed many road trips, and while doing so, often took the scenic route for a chance to experience more parts of the country. He even commemorated all his travels by collecting t-shirts from these experiences. Gary was also known to be an expert at finding the deals; if you needed a good prime rib, fish fry, or new tires, he was your man! At the end of the day, Gary was usually searching for a meal for a good deal. From these experiences and so much more, Gary will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends.

Gary was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family and friends. In his quiet and genuine presence, Gary was a caring, compassionate listener who was always willing to offer a word of advice and was a true friend to all.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at Heritage Funeral Home (9200 S. 27th, Oak Creek, Wisconsin) for family from 12:00-1:00 PM and for friends and family from 1:00- 4:00 PM; a service will follow at 4:00 PM.

I always knew when Gary was outside working on a vehicle or in the pole barn! Our German Shepherd Atlas just loved Gary and would sit at the west edge of our lawn and wait for permission to “go see Gary”. Sincerest condolences.
