Born to eternal life July 25, 2020 at the age of 80. Beloved husband for 57 years of Bonnie (nee DeRosso). Cherished father of Geralyn (John) Straszewski, Dina Gulan and Jill (Dave) Tomczyk. Loving Papa of Jacqueline Nameth, Andrew, Natalie and Alex Straszewski, and Allison and Brian Tomczyk. Great-grandpa of Charley Nameth. Brother of Loretta Pronschinski. Son of the late Bennie and Sabina Gulan.

Gerald was born and raised in Hurley, Wisconsin. After high school, he entered the military (U.S. Army) and was a paratrooper in the 82nd and 101st Airborne. While serving his country, Gerald earned numerous badges / awards as a marksman and parachutist. Following the military, Gerald was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company and later by Southeastern Products, from which he retired in 2007. In his spare time, Gerald thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dear friends, namely Chuckie, Ronnie and Dennis. Each year Gerald planted an enormous garden and tended to his beautiful flowers. However, what brought Gerald the most joy in life was spending time with his family. He will live on in our hearts forever.

A memorial visitation will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church (1441 W. Oakwood Rd. Oak Creek) on Thursday, August 6th, from 3-5pm with a memorial mass to start at 5pm.

Sympathies from my family Bonnie. I have very vivid memories of Gerald when I was growing up. I always looked up to him and thought he was the coolest!

I’m glad I talked a long time with him at my mom’s funeral.

    Great memories

    Peter Kacala
