Gertrude K. Hobbs
(Gertie)
Hobbs, Gertrude (nee Denk) found peace on Monday, December 19th, 2022, at the age of 94. She is reunited with her loving husband Shaddie, who has been awaiting her in God’s arms since 1994. Cherished mother of Rey Hobbs (Sally) and Feliciana “Chana” Berres (Paul). Perfect & Proud grandma “Amma” of Jacob & Gabriella Berres. She is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Cudahy, WI December 23rd, 1927. Longtime resident of Hales Corners, WI. She had a hope of living to 95 but was just days short of her goal.
Gertie worked part time at St. Mary Parish when her children were school aged. Was a volunteer for Fish Fry and Bingo, babysat for many, many children and ushered at church for years. She was a very talented quilter and seamstress. Gertie loved walks with neighbors and baking coffee cakes & zucchini bread. She loved all animals, children and sweets. She was known in the neighborhood for her popsicle & cupcake supply. A miracle worker with plants, she loved growing her large vegetable garden and flowers.
Celebration of her life will be January 06th, 2023 10am – 11:45am at St. Mary Parish Hales Corners, 9520 W. Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners with a Mass of Christian Burial following at noon.
Mrs. Hobbs was one of my most favorite moms! She had so much spunk. One of my most favorite memories of her was making homemade candy, when Chana and I were in 6th grade. She blessed so many people, and will be missed.
Mrs Hobbs was always the most gracious host and willing to help with anything Chana’s friends needed. Such a kind heart. Love and hugs to her family.
Our sympathy to the Hobbs family on the passing of Gert. We remember both Gert & Shaddie from the past helping with funeral service over many years.
Regards,
Mark & Kay Simonson
My Sincere Sympathy … Gertie was my “mentor” when I first volunteered to be an “usher” ( later upgraded to “Hospitality Minister” ) … always gracious with a smiling disposition …
Keeping her in my Prayers !
