Gordon “Gordy” Paul Rieck, went home to meet his Savior at the age of 93 on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Surprise, AZ.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on March 25, 1931, to Fred and Alma (nee Bodanske) Rieck and a graduate of Concordia Teacher’s College in River Forest, IL, Gordy spent several years as a parochial school teacher in Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin, including teaching all 8 grades in a one-room country school in Austin, MN, before teaching hundreds of people of all ages how to drive in his own Bestway Driving School. Gordy retired from the US Postal Service in downtown Milwaukee after many years as a supervisor, and spent several years in retirement, driving over 250,000 miles for Airport Limousine Services, before relocating to Surprise, AZ, in 2009, where he and his wife Joyce were active members at Crown of Life Lutheran Church.

Gordy was a talented basketball player and a leading scorer on his college basketball team at Concordia Milwaukee while still in high school. He also loved to coach and was an avid and loyal sports fan, including being a frequent caller to sport talk shows, first in Wisconsin with his Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers, and in his later years in Arizona for his Cardinals, Diamondbacks, and Suns.

He did everything with honesty and integrity, loved the Lord, and prayed for everyone’s soul. A prolific quoter of the Bible, he was a longtime member at Our Father’s Lutheran Church in Greenfield, WI, and at Hales Corners Lutheran Church in Hales Corners, Wi. Gordy is survived by his wife of 64 years Joyce Rieck (nee Tretow), son Robert (Joanne) Rieck, grandsons Christopher Rieck and Brian Rieck, daughter Elizabeth Miles, niece Karen Leitzow, nephew David Rieck, sister-in-law Hope Wilson (nee Tretow), brother-in-law Gary Wilson, and nephew Garrett Wilson. Preceded in death by parents Fred and Alma, son Martin Rieck, brother Daniel Rieck, and sister-in-law Dorothy Rieck.
