Born November 3, 1925 in Riga, Latvia and peacefully passed away on November 20, 2009 at the age of 84, after a stroke. He leaves behind many friends, from his days as the Waterfront Director at Camp Anokijig, as the Athletic Director and Guidance Counselor at Franklin Middle School and from his involvement in the Latvian community. Gunars is survived by his wife Judith Raits, daughter Vivian, son-in-law David and grandsons Michael and Andis Solomon. A Memorial visitation will be held at the LATVIAN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1853 N. 75th St., Wauwatosa, on December 5, 2009 at 10AM with a Service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Camp Anokijig scholarship fund appreciated.
