Harland L. Jones
of Sullivan died Thursday Oct. 25, 2001 at his home at the age of 73. Born in Whitewater, August 29, 1928 to Lloyd and Elsie Jones nee Nelson. Harland married Jeane Hooper June 11, 1949 at Palmyra Methodist Church. He attend Pleasant Valley grade school and graduated from Palmyra H.S. in 1946. He lived on the family farm all of his life and worked at Uncle Josh’s Bate Co. in Fort Atkinson for 22 yrs.
Harland is survived by his wife Jeane nee Hooper two sons Steven Lloyd Dawn who live on the farm, Wesley Raymond Pam of Pretty Lake, Dousman, and a daughter Karen Jeane Lian Yu of Indianapolis, IN. Five grandchildren: Christopher Emily Jones, Lindsey Keith Keske, Cory Lynn Jones, Brenda and David Jones. Two great granddaughters Summer and Morgan Keske. Two sisters: Elaine Albert Kaeppel of Sheboygan and Phyllis Christensen of Palmyra. Harland is preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister Betty Ann and his twin brother Harold.
Harland enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and being with his family and friends. He was a member and past Master of Palmyra Lodge #68, Royal Arch Masons, past Patron and Sentinel of Rob Morris Chapter #10, Order of the Eastern Star, a former director of Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Palmyra School Board of Education, Supervisor and Chairman of Sullivan Town Board. Harland was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Trustee, Annual Conference Delegate, Vice Chairman of the Ad Council and various other church offices.
Visitation will be Sunday Oct 28, 4-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Homes 320 Main St. Palmyra with Masonic and Eastern Star services at 7:30 PM. Funeral Services will be Monday Oct 29, at Pleasant Valley Uniter Methodist Church Rome Oakhill Rd, Sullivan at 11 AM with a visitation from 10 AM until the time of service. Pastor Larry Turner officiating. interment Pleasant Valley Cemetery to follow. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
