Somers, Harry J.,
Harry heard God’s call and answered obediently on August 29, 2015 at the age of 98. The son of the late Frank and Helen Somers was born on November 29, 1916 in Milwaukee, WI. He was married to Marion (nee Rygh) for 73 years and was a committed partner for 78 years before her death in 2012. Harry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Philippines, and he worked as a real estate broker and appraiser until his retirement. He was a dedicated parishioner and usher at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hales Corners for over four decades until he moved to Waukesha. He enjoyed his final years living at Oak Hill Terrace playing Sheepshead with an amazing group of guys, singing in the choir, and eating lunch out with his good friends John and Jake. He created many memories with his great-grandchildren and made numerous trips with them to visit extended family in the Green Bay area. He loved to dance with Marion and play his harmonica.
Harry is survived by his children, Allen (Nancy) Somers and Melodee Somers; his grandchildren, Natalie (Steven) Wegner and Samuel Surges; his great-grandchildren; the youngest of 11 siblings, Jean (George) Schrimpf; and several nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He is now reunited with his eldest son Ronald Somers, and his youngest son Harry Somers Jr. He couldn’t wait to meet his Creator and dance with Marion on Heaven’s dance floor. We wish you sweet peace, Harry.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC FAITH COMMUNITY, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave, Hales Corners, from 9:00AM- 10:45AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Private interment.
The family would like to thank the staff of Oak Hill Terrace and Vitas Hospice Care.
