Helen Lavern Brossman
Helen Lavern Brossman, 89, of Franksville, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, Franklin, on October 11, 2010.
She was born on March 30, 1921, to Fred and Katherine nee: Miller Gutknecht in Franksville. On June 20 of 1941 she married Kenneth Brossman. He preceeded her in death in 1978.
A lifetime resident of Franksville, she owned and operated Brossman’s Bar since 1941. Her fun-loving and outgoing personality made her loved by everyone who knew her. She always enjoyed a good party, telling jokes and having a hearty laugh. She was affectionately called “Honey” by many. She had a host of dear friends who regularly stopped in to see her and bring her thoughtful gifts and treats.
She is survived by her devoted son Ronald Char Brossman, Racine. Her beloved daughter Karen Nachreiner preceeded her in death in 1999, and her beloved son Darrell preceeded her in death in 2000. She also is survived by her daughter-in-law Fran Brossman, Franksville. Grandson Jeff Michele Davitz, who along with her son Ronny, faithfully attended to her needs throughout the years. Grandchildren Jody Greg Bankenbush; Jill Hein; Jackie Bill Swope; Shane Gabrielle Brossman; Beau Elaina Brossman; Keith Cindy Brossman; Kenneth Katie Brossman; and Molly Troy Brossman. Greatgrandchildren Dustin and Gracie Davitz; Nicholas, Abby and Jay Bankenbush; Leah and Josh Hein; Devan and Owen Brossman; Breanna and Justin Swope; Kyle and Samantha Brossman; and McKynna Brossman. Sisters-in-law Lillian Gutknecht; Ruth Gutknecht; Lucille Hohlen; and Ruth Brossman. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by brothers Glenn and Fred Fritz Gutknecht. Sister Deloris Lueneburg; brothers-in-law Clem Lueneburg, Al Hohlen and Leroy Brossman.
Visitation Wednesday, October 13 at the Funeral Home from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 14 at 10 am at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. DeGroat and the staff of Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for their compassion and care during Helen’s final days.
