Helena McMahon

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at age 102. Loving wife of John for 74 years. Dear mom to Robert (Nancy), David (the late Kathleen), and Barbara (Edward) Leaders. Beloved grandma to 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, and her sister, Olive Langosch.
Helena was born in 1922 in Ohio, and shortly after that moved to Chicago and spent her adolescence and early adult life there. Some years after she graduated from high school, she worked for United Airlines, and that is where she met her husband, John. After meeting, they began dating and eventually were married on January 1, 1950. They began to have a family together, and when John received a job with the City of Milwaukee, they relocated to Wisconsin. With having a young family, Helena spent her days taking care of her children in their younger years. Once her children grew up, she eventually took on different part time jobs.
Over the years, something Helena enjoyed greatly was square dancing with John. They took classes through their church and belonged to a few different square dance clubs. Another thing Helena greatly enjoyed was spending time and traveling in their motorhome. Oftentimes, they would bring some of the grandchildren with them on their trips. They also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with other square dance campers visiting square dancing events around the country.
Helena was a very loving wife, a nurturing and caring mother to her children, and a wonderful grandma. Her family felt lucky to have her and will miss her dearly.
A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9 am – 11 am with a memorial service at 11 am at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (6615 W Oklahoma Ave. Milwaukee).
Family extends a special thanks to the staff at Clement Manor Nursing Home for their care of Helena during her later years.

I met Helena when she was at the same dining table with my late Mother-in-law Rita at Clement Manor.
She was sweet, funny and I enjoyed talking with her.

    Dear McMahon Family,

Our deepest sympathy on the passing of Helena. She and Mack were my parents (Bob and Betty Rude) neighbors on Alvina Avenue. My brother Jeff and I would play with Bobby and Davey . We sure had fun with the other kids on the street-Mascari, Kroll, Kelly, Joerres and Rukas. I have fond memories of us sharing Kool Aid at your house. It seemed we were always outside doing something. We will keep you in our prayers.
