Age 85 of Milwaukee, passed away July 12, 2015. Jim was born September 12, 1929.

Loving husband of Leona (nee Hertel) for 64 years. Survived by children: Dave (Kathy), Patrick Lee, Michael (Theresa), Jim IV, and Lynn (Paul) D’Alessio. Grandchildren: Brian (Tasha), Amy (Derek) Kowalczyk, Joshua, Michael (Megan), Tyler, Kristina; Paul, Brandon, and Gino D’Alessio. Great-grandchildren: Kael, Ian, Neva, Elijah and Nathan Braden. Brother Larry (Sharon). Brother-in-law Ted Hertel. Sister-in-law Lynn Braden. Further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceded in death by great-grandparents Robert and Mary (nee Mallon) Braden, and Francis and Adele (Roy) Garant. Grandparents James Sr. and Catherine (nee Garant), Antonio and Jozefa (nee Potapowicz). Parents James Jr. and Frances (nee Miezio). Sisters Arlene (Gerry) Carpenter, and Marge (Dick) Berger. Brothers Timothy Daniel and Tom (Marilyn). Sister-in-law Shirley Hertel.

Jim was baptized and married at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Graduated from St. Patrick Grade School, South Division High, Devry Institute, and Marquette University.

He served in the US Army (Korean War) in Austria from 1952 – 1953 as a MP Military Unit # 202. Jim retired from Allen- Bradley Company (Rockwell) in 1987 after 37 years of service.

Jim was a member of South Division High Old Timer’s Club, Fab 40’s Group, Klemmer’s First Friday Club with Father Dominic and Father Alfredo, charter member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, youth chairman of St. Gregory the Great Holy Name Society, and member of the Pius XI High School Father’s Club for many years.

Jim organized and coached basketball at St Gregory the Great for twenty years. He also organized and ran the Southwest Grade School leagues for seventh and eighth grade and the eight team Holy Name Society softball league.

Jim enjoyed sports activities, traveling, cruises, golf, camping, building their Dome Home in Door County, and the activities of “The Fab 40’s Group.” He had a passion for researching the genealogy of his families. He also greatly enjoyed watching golf, basketball, and football on television. He also liked to watch his grandchildren play sports.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 9 to 11 AM. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
