James “Jim” R. Briselden Jr.

Found peace on March 11, 2025 at age 92. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Domack) for 70 years. Giving dad to Jim (Cindy) Briselden, Mary (Keith) Weber, and Tom (Jan) Briselden. Gentle grandpa to Ben Briselden, Katrina Briselden, Dan Weber, Chrissy Weber, Michael Weber, Jacob Briselden, Tessa Briselden, and Nathan Briselden. Great Grandpa Rhubarb to Cole Weber, Journey Weber, Ella Weber, Brody Weber, Peyton Weber, and Archie Weber. Dear uncle to Barb Tyner. Fond friend to Bob Disch. Also survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. Briselden and Adeliade Schaftner-Briselden and his sisters, Thelma Ash and Ellajean Karner.
Jim served as a math teacher, coach, and athletic director at St. Francis High School for over 30 years. Each and every class started with a joke for his students. He taught trigonometry, calculus, and geometry. Jim was a devoted and well respected teacher. He would provide support to any student who needed it. Many of his students were inspired by “Mr. B” and chose to follow in his footsteps to become teachers themselves. After he retired from teaching, he volunteered much of his time with the Wisconsin Mathematics Council and The St. Francis Library Board.
Jim was also a proud Air Force Veteran; he served from 1951 to 1955. He had the opportunity to attend an Honor Flight in 2015.
Some things that Jim enjoyed were golfing, biking, listening to Willie Nelson, backpacking and hiking at Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. He was an avid golfer, and he fulfilled a dream of attending “The Masters”. He and Elaine also greatly enjoyed camping in Door County and Governor Dodge State Park with their camping gang.
A memorial visitation will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025, at ST. VERONICA CONGREGATION (353 E Norwich St, Milwaukee) from 10 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Military Honors to follow.
Private interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Harold “Butch” McKeon Golf Outing that supports scholarships to SFHS student athletes.
For any memorial contributions, please make checks payable to SF Activity Fund and mail to:

Mr B. was a friend to me even though he was my teacher. He did help me greatly after school before basketball practice.with mathematics.

We worked together doing basketball games as he was a great scorekeeper; and I used some of his methods when I scorekeeped games at every level from grade school to Sunday men’s games..

He treated me with dignity and respect. I would say hi when he was walking his dog along the lakefront or near SF High School

A good man and teacher. He will be missed

I was having difficulty in another teachers geometry class at SFHS. The counselor suggested I transfer to Mr. B class and he had a way of explaining things that helped me to grasp the concepts. Thank you Mr B and my sympathy to the family.

Mr. B had the best (worst??) jokes ever! A great guy. We ended our geometry proofs Q.E.D. Not sure of the Latin translation, but according to Mr. B, QUITE EASILY DONE! 🙂
