Jeffrey S. Diehl

Jeffrey, an avid reader from childhood, loved all things history. He found an outlet for his interest in Civil War reenactments. He enjoyed many events with the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Thomas’s Mudsills, and the GAR Post #8, where he cultivated many dear friendships. It was on one of the local parades with the 3rd Wisconsin that he started to become aware of the MS that troubled him later in life.  He enjoyed sharing his interest in the Civil War with children at schools, creating various reenactment scenarios at Old World Wisconsin and participating in the Civil War Round Table. With a keen interest in genealogy, he traced his family tree back many generations and across multiple continents, which inspired him to become fluent in German and a talented potter.

Starting his career in auto body repair upon graduation from Waukesha Area Technical College, his last years in the trade were at Braeger Chevrolet.  While working full time supporting his family, he started going to UWM in the evenings.  A dedicated and enthusiastic student, he graduated in 1999 with honors and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Anthropology.  While in school he was active in Anthropology Rescue, helping to preserve pauper graves on the Froedtert hospital expansion. With his degree earned, he was able to change careers, working as an insurance claims adjuster with State Farm Insurance.

With poor health limiting his life, his last years were spent at home with family. He passed away peacefully at home.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jean Diehl (nee Gilbertson).

Beloved husband of Karen Diehl (nee Walle).  Cherished father of Jessica Diehl, Samuel Diehl and Kjerstin Diehl.  Loving grandfather of Isaiah Flores.  Dear brother of Bonnie (Read) Morrison, Scott (Cheryl) Diehl, and Robert (Twyla) Diehl.
