  • A Memorial Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 16880 W. NATIONAL AVE. from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m.

Called home to the Lord on Monday, February 24th, 2025, at age 68 following an over 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Husband of Julie (nee Poisson). Stepfather of Kelly (Kelli) and Michelle Warwick. Loving grandfather of Danny and Aiden. Brother of Mike (Kathy), Patrick, David (Brooke), and Thomas (Shelly) Janikowski. Dear son of the late Coach Hilary and the late Sylvia (nee Smolen) Janikowski. Further survived by other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jeff’s journey on this earth was one marked with love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more who’s lives he has touched.

Jeff’s deep-rooted faith in Jesus gave him the gift of comfort and much love to his wonderful patients, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

He absolutely loved woodworking projects, making wine, drinking wine, and riding off into the sunset with no particular place to go, on our Harley.

Scuba diving in warm water was his favorite vacation but he also dived on shipwrecks and did repair work on underwater equipment in the Great Lakes.

He found joy in Christian music. Many times, you would see him walking down the hallways of St. Lukes with his headset on listening to “Mercy Me”.

His love and patience with all animals are something we shared. He’s with Sam, Harley, Maxwell, Murphy, Cooper, Charlie, Jezzabell and Chase. His lap is full.

Jeff completed his Nuclear Medicine Technology degree in 1978 at UW-LaCrosse. He then continued to UW-Madison in 1991 in the first Physician’s Assistant program in Wisconsin. He was the President of the American Association of Physicians Assistants when he went into Cardiology. Jeff worked as a Physicians Assistant at St. Luke’s hospital in the Cardiology Department for many years.

Special thanks to Shelley Beckett, former Executive Director of Sylvan Crossing/Creekside Estates in Cudahy, WI who has guided us through this final chapter with care, dignity, love, and grace. Also, a special thanks to Brighton Hospice, especially Jeff’s nurse Ed, who held our hands through all of this.

A Memorial Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 16880 W. NATIONAL AVE. from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m.

If so desired memorials to CHAINED DOGS OF MKE or BILL’S POSSE ANIMAL RESCUE. Both non-profit organizations.

I’m shocked and saddened to hear of Jeff’s passing and of the struggles he must have had in recent years due to the illness that took him.. I worked with Jeff years ago in a cardiology practice at St. Luke’s. He was a friend back then although we did not remain in touch when career changes moved me elsewhere. My sincere condolences to his family for this tragic loss.
