On February 25th, 2023, Jerome “Sam” N. Samens went peacefully to his heavenly home at 79 years. Family surrounded him in his final days. Sam is survived by his wife, Karen (Frank) Samens, Sister Doris Ann Samens, and Brother-in-Law, Marve Goelz; children Deano (Laurie) Samens, Chris (Kathy) Samens, Matthew (Karen Pracki) Samens, Kelly (Jay) Weber, Kathleen (Jay) Fisher, and Andrew (Brenda) Byrnes. He was a proud grandpa of twenty-two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Sam is preceded in death by his siblings Marie Samens, Robert (June) Samens, Yvonne (Buzz) Samens, and Cleone Samens.
Sam was born September 10, 1943, to now deceased Herbert and Wilhemena (Rothbauer) Samens in Cooks Valley, WI. He was a graduate of Bloomer High School, class of 1961. His country-boy charm led him into the arms of Karen, his wife of 48 years. Sam had an incredible work ethic and loved his job of 35 years at Grede Foundry.
Sam enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He was an avid Brewers fan and loved watching the games with his family and friends. Sam and Karen were active members of St Lucas church for 37 years, where his faith in Jesus led him to his final resting place.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16th, 2023, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 2605 S Kinnickinnic Ave, from 4:00 pm to the Memorial Service at 6:00 pm. Instead of flowers, memorials to Autism Speaks or Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center are appreciated.
