Jessica (Jess) Trad, 37, lost a hard-fought battle against an evil foe, melanoma, surrounded by family, friends and love on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. She fought the good fight and did her best to live life to the fullest. She was born on May 23, 1986, in Merrillville, Ind. She began life in Lowell, before moving to Morocco when she was 4. She was a graduate of North Newton High School, Class of 2004.

After graduation, Jess moved to Milwaukee where she found good friends and met the love of her life Erin Trad. The two were married in a beautiful Las Vegas wedding on March 24, 2018. They decided to have a second wedding in Milwaukee to share with their friends and family who couldn’t come to Vegas. On Nov. 2, 2019, they had another beautiful wedding sealing their deep love and commitment to each other.

Jess is survived by her wife, Erin, parents Cheri and Jim Shelhart of DeMotte, brothers Erik (Amy) Wilson of Morocco and Carl (Candie) Wilson of Wisconsin, sister Samantha Glancy, nieces Lily Martin and Fiona Wilson, nephews Sebastian and Mason Wilson, special “bros” Stephanie Rodriguez and Cody Hargreaves, aunts, uncles and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Mary Lu Gayfield.

Jess had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed creating art including acrylics and putting puzzles together. She loved to perform as her alter ego, John Locke. She enjoyed a community of friends who supported her and Erin with their love. After living in Sun City, Arizona for six years, she and Erin moved back to their beloved Milwaukee in 2022.

A celebration of life for Jess will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, with visitation from noon to 3 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3, at the Heritage Funeral Homes, 9200 S. 27th St., Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Please do not send flowers. Memorials in her name are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to her family.
