JoAnn Pankow
JoAnn H. Pankow (nee Wagner), age 83, of Caledonia, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends. JoAnn was very much a lover of life, born in Waunakee on December 5, 1940, to Lawrence and Marcella Wagner. Being a farming family, she felt right at home in the barn milking cows or out in the fields tending crops. In her youth, she was very popular, even becoming Homecoming Queen at Waunakee High School in 1959. After school she worked at a television station and then for the State of Wisconsin. In 1968, she was united in marriage to Wayne A. Pankow at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ashton, moved to Caledonia, where she helped Wayne with the Bay View Barber Shop. She took a job at U.S. Bank where she worked until retirement. JoAnn loved to go dancing on Saturday nights, bowling in a league, or even just staying in playing Sheepshead with the family. She also loved cooking, traveling, and working the garden.
She was a devoted wife to Wayne and loving mother to her children, Vance (Erin), Wade, Kristoffer (Danielle), special daughter, Kelley; and grandson, Colin. She was very involved in the church, her community, and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are her siblings, Teresa (John) Hayes; Janice (Kenneth) Schwab; Fran (Butch) Sparby; Alice (Frank) Karls; Sam (Paula) Wagner; Marge (Art) Barbian; Vic Wagner; Mary (Vern) Pulvermacher; sister–in-law, Beth Wagner, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marcella; husband, Wayne; brother, Gerard; Parents in-law, Arthur and Lena; brothers-in-law, Donald Pankow, Kyrle Pankow and Mario DeRosa; sisters-in-law, Shirely DeRosa, Sarah Pankow, and Ruth Highman.

Hello Family. So sorry to hear of Joann’s passing. I knew her from our farming and fun days. We belonged to bowling league and many times drove to Milwaukee to visit Teresa in college/ I got to know her from my neighbor, LaVonne Frisch, back in our first job days. A fun person and she will be missed. You all have my sympathy and prayers.
