Dobner, Johanna “Jay” B.
nee Holba of Greendale since 1941. Called home to the Lord on Friday June 25, 2010 age 93yrs.
Beloved wife of the late Alfred. Dear sister of Pauline the late Lester Yanke. Sister-in-law of Caroline Brace. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed June 30, 2010, 11am at ST ALPHONSUS CHURCH 5960 W. Loomis Road. Interment Wood National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wed at the church from 9:00 am until the time of mass 11:00am.
Jay was married to Alfred in 1939, they moved to Greendale in 1941. Both Jay and Alfred were pioneers in the development of the Village of Greendale. Jay worked for many years as the Deputy Clerk in the village, a stenographer for the IRS/Social Security Office, retiring as the Village Clerk/Treasurer in 1958. At that time she and Alfred opened Dobner’s Beer and Liquor in the Village of Greendale. While in business they were recognized for their public service in the community with a “National Brands Award.” Jay was proud to have served as President and Secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of Greendale American Legion Post # 416, also a member of the Greendale VFW Auxiliary, a director of the Greendale Credit Union, Greendale School Board member, member and secretary of the Greendale Women’s Club, Greendale Golf Club, Mary of Lourdes Lodge # 23, the Greendale Historical Society as well as the Slovak Historical Society and friends of the Greendale Library. She was also a longtime active member of St. Alphonsus Congregation. Jay and Alfred loved to travel. Jay was a resident of the Concord/ Harbour Village since 1996 where she truly enjoyed playing cards with her many friends.
