Johanna M. Stanz “Joanne”

Passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the age of 78. Beloved wife of Walter for 43 years. Loving mother of Joanne, Carl (Luth), and Daniel Baehr. Step-mother of Wendy (Dean) Mathison, Walt Stanz, and Wayne (Julianne) Stanz. Cherished grandmother of Sean (Liz), Shannon (Adrian), Devin, Aidan, Tyler, McKenna, Ian, Ava, and Sean. Great-grandmother of Finn and Reagan. Further survived by nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents William and Johanna Gesell and her brother Jack Gesell.
Johanna enjoyed the outdoors exploring trails and spent time by the lake walking her dogs Trudy and the late Shelby. She loved going out West and spending time in the badlands.
Johanna’s favorite musicians included Willie Nelson and Elvis and you would often find her dancing around the house.
Some of her hobbies were playing card games with her family and Scrabble with her friends.
Johanna retired from the Milwaukee Health Department in 2006.
A memorial gathering will take place at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (3801 S Howell Ave, Milwaukee) on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10am until the time of service at 12pm.

    Sorry for your loss. I recognized her smile in her picture immediately. Joanne and I were friends at Messmer. I always enjoyed her company and our many talks over all that happens in high school. I’m so glad to see she was so well loved.
