Loving husband of the late Nancy for 68 years. Beloved dad of Cheryl (Michael) Mroz, Gary (Angela), Charlene (Wally) White, Brent, Shiela (Jeff) Webster. Dear grandpa to Erik, Nik, Samantha (Steve), Isabella (Jeff), Gabriella, Francesca, Dominique, Andrew (Samantha), Jonathan, Michael (Alisa), Steven (Kristin), Cameron (Cait), Ryan, Jacob, and John. Great-Grandpa to Skye, Jack, Ryan, and a great-granddaughter and great-grandson on the way. Brother-in-law to Ken Zastrow. Also further survived by other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Lucille, his brother Earl Hamilton, and his brother-in-laws, Gary and Robert Zastrow.
John graduated from Washington High School. After high school he married Nancy and they went on to have a beautiful family and life together. John’s love for sailing started at a young age. He was a sea scout and sailed with the boat Peggy. In later years he purchased his own boat the Nanjack and enjoyed many years of cruising, racing, fishing and sharing his passion with family and friends.
He will be dearly missed, especially by his grandchildren whom he deeply loved.
A special thank you to “The Woods” caregivers for all their loving care.

I/we will miss one great individual who would always put others needs before his. You inspired so many of us. I was a proud son in law to have called you dad. Till we meet on the other side dad. R. I. P. My work buddy my dear father in law.
My Dear Father, Papa Bear, Daddy. You were always there to offer guidance. You lifted me when I was at my biggest low. You inspired me to do better and make something of myself. You supported me when I needed help. You taught me the meaning of love. You never looked down on me for my mistakes. You befriended my husband and loved my children dearly. . I can’t thank you enough for being such a wonderful Father and role model. You worked so hard. I will miss you terribly. But I know we will be reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven because you and mom brought us up to know the Lord. My love will carry on with wonderful memories. I love you Dad. ❤️
I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to have gotten to know you. You had the biggest heart. Your love for your family was amazing, and so heartwarming. I loved sitting with you, while you showed me your photo album of you sailing, and loved hearing about your adventures of you sailing that you shared with me. I will truly miss you.
I met “Captain Jack” at Delco. He was one of the people who inpsected my work when I first started there in 1978. He was always kind when recommending improvements in my work, and as I got to know him in the break area we found we had common ground in our faith and Christian values. His kids were the joy of his life and his face lit up when he spoke about them and Nancy. I have been fortunate to have had him as a friend for 46 years. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest now in Jesus’ arms dear friend.
Jack and Nancy became our neighbor when they moved to Franklin. They also became our friends. .We have fond memories of sharing meals, playing Dominoes and Sequence, .sailing and other good times.
Our sincere condolences to the family. Jack was an outstanding husband and father, and all around good person..
Comfort and peace to you.
Jean and Lou Karpinski
Cheryl, Gary, Charlene, Brent and Shiela.
I know it’s hard on the heart say goodby to a parent. I pray you find some comfort during your grieving knowing that as inseparable as your dad and mom were in this life that they are together again in eternal life in the presence of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
In Sympathy,
Jeff
Jack was one of my step-grandmother, Mildred Sanger’s Sea Scouts.. Mildred considered all of them her sons. and they made her life very enjoyable and worth while. I thought that Jack was a particularly nice guy, a real character (along with Marty) , a good family man and a fellow SSYC sailor. No regrets, I am sure.
